Role Overview
Surya Hospital is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hospital Pharmacist to join its pharmaceutical care team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the dispensing of medications, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with clinical staff to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical services within a hospital setting. Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately and efficiently to inpatients and outpatients
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient medication therapy
- Maintain accurate records of drug inventories, dispensing logs, and patient medication histories
- Counsel patients and caregivers on the safe and effective use of medications
- Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and report findings to the clinical team
- Ensure compliance with hospital pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory guidelines
- Participate in drug utilization reviews and pharmacy and therapeutics committee activities
- Oversee the safe storage, handling, and disposal of medications including controlled substances
- Support junior pharmacy staff and interns through guidance and supervision
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.Pharm) or Master's degree (M.Pharm) in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
- Valid pharmacist registration with the State Pharmacy Council
- Experience of between two to six years in a hospital pharmacy setting
- Solid knowledge of clinical pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic guidelines
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team interaction
- Knowledge of drug regulatory frameworks and hospital accreditation standards (e.g., NABH)
- Ability to work in rotational shifts as required by the hospital
