QA Engineer - Data

Role Overview

ConnectRaz is looking for a skilled QA Engineer with a strong focus on data quality and validation to join our growing engineering team in Hyderabad. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data-driven applications. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to design and execute robust testing strategies that uphold the highest standards of data quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts specifically for data pipelines and ETL workflows
Perform data validation, data reconciliation, and data integrity testing across source and target systems
Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking tools, ensuring timely resolution with development teams
Collaborate with data engineers and business analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios
Automate data quality checks and regression tests to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines
Monitor and report on data quality metrics, proactively identifying anomalies and root causes
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
Review data models, schemas, and transformation logic to identify potential quality risks early in the development cycle
Contribute to the improvement of QA processes, standards, and best practices within the data engineering domain

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience in software quality assurance with a focus on data testing and validation
Proficiency in SQL for writing complex queries to validate data across relational databases
Hands-on experience testing ETL pipelines, data warehouses, or data lake solutions
Familiarity with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar platforms
Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages such as Python or Shell
Knowledge of data quality tools and frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests, or similar)
Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
Exposure to API testing and understanding of data integration patterns is desirable
