Role Overview
Access Healthcare is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join their growing team across multiple locations in India. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes using established coding systems. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical documentation and a commitment to compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze clinical documentation including physician notes, operative reports, and discharge summaries to assign accurate medical codes
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with payer-specific guidelines, CMS regulations, and industry standards
- Query physicians or clinical staff when documentation is unclear or incomplete to ensure coding precision
- Meet productivity and quality benchmarks established by the organization
- Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with the billing team to resolve claim rejections and denials related to coding issues
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant healthcare or life sciences field
- Recognized coding certification such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or equivalent preferred
- Solid knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Experience with healthcare revenue cycle management and medical billing processes
- Proficiency in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
